Chapel
Chapel stands physically and spiritually at the heart of the College. Pupils attend weekday Chapel, which includes a blend of traditional hymns and prayers and addresses on topical matters. These may be of a specifically religious character, or on a broader spiritual and moral theme, reflecting the diversity of the College community. Pupils are encouraged to take a lead in presenting talks, music and drama in Chapel. On Sundays in term-time there is a service (either morning/evening prayer or the Eucharist) which follows the traditions of the Church of England: pupils of all faiths are welcome to participate. There is a resident Chaplain whose role includes leading worship in Chapel, visiting the boarding houses and being available to anyone in the community who seeks pastoral or spiritual support.
We believe it is important for our pupils to have a firm commitment to values which have stood the test of time. While we would want pupils to be flexible, pragmatic and open to new ideas, we also emphasise those enduring Christian values which have always led to responsible and active citizenship. Our Royal Charter emphasises our Christian foundation and Chapel is at the heart of our community. We seek to be inclusive, supporting all Christians, respecting members of other faiths, those searching for faith and those with no faith.
