Senior House Football
16 April 2007

No 7 senior team began as strong favourites to win the senior house football final against No 2. Achieving this had become doubly important given the game had been scheduled to follow the defeat by the juniors earlier in the afternoon. After ten minutes though the team were rocking. Two quick goals by No 2 had the senior team in shock with much work to be done. The quality of the team was not in doubt and they drove forward again and again, but again and again chances were not taken. Just before half-time though Lonan O\'Herlihy pulled one back. In the second half the pressure continued. No 7 scored only for the goal to be given off-side. Then in the dying moments No 7 equalised to set up 20 minutes of extra-time. It was clear that the next team to score would win the game. No 2 had a great chance cleared off the line only to see shortly afterwards Jamie Purcell break away and beat both a defender and then the goalkeeper to slide in the winner. No 7 can therefore keep all four major trophies for another term at least and have now won the senior football three years in a row.
