Girls Hockey Results
09 December 2009
Last Wednesday the junior girls hockey teams dominated their home matches against Bishop Hereford Blue Coat School. The U/15a played some very exciting hockey and won 8-0, with Mattie Wright named player of the match. The U/14a team were strong in both attack and defence winning 5-0 with Alice Paterson once again having an excellent game.
On Thursday the junior B teams visited Wycliffe School and took on their A teams, who proved to be a little too strong. They lost both the U/14 and U/15 matches, but there were notable individual performances by Katie O\'Rouke and Holy Makin.
On Saturday the 1st XI fought hard against Wycliffe and despite having the better opportunities were held to a 1-1 home draw. It was a very determined effort in their last match of the season with many young players in the side and also a very fitting finale for the most experienced member of the team, goalkeeper Poppy Andrews, who was back to her best and was named best player for a series of great saves.
The 2nd XI played fantastically at home to RGS, especially in the second half, winning 3-0 in what was for many their last match for Malvern College. It was such a cohesive and determined team effort that no individual could be singled out as player of the match. Meanwhile the 3rd XI took on Wycliffe School\'s 2nd team but despite giving it their all were narrowly beaten 1-0 with Jacinta Yapp named as the best individual player.
Well done on a good final week of girls hockey competition with much promise evident for the future.
