Lacrosse: 2007 Midlands Tournament

First Team
At the 2007Midlands Tournament Malvern faced Wycombe Abbey, a tough first match,but team moral was high throughout the game. Strong defense andeffective teamwork resulted in a 4-1 victory for Malvern. Stillconfident from the first game Malvern scored early goals against Piper Corner, however, with only a short break between matches, the team soon tired. Malvern College managed to keep their lead until the final whistle and won by one goal. The final score was 3-2. Their last game against Uppingham,started with enthusiasm and high hopes. The attack really came out oftheir shells resulting in some powerful, well worked goals. Thedefense was not left untested but rose to the competition and theMalvern side came out on top, winning the game and the tournament. Thefinal score was 4-2. The girls were delighted with the results. Goalscorers: Hannah Jefferson, Meg Lister, Hermione Benest, Danni Close,Jane Brierly, and Becky Tildesley. Player of the tournament was HannahJefferson.
Second Team
The seconds had a slow start but soon began to produce some nail-biting performances against tough and challenging oppositions. Claire Hughes, at center, wonderously won every center draw. However, goals were minimal for the Malvern side despite the great energy of the attacking players. The defense was also on top form. Emma Hicks, at coverpoint, rightfully received player of the tournament after fantastic displays of defensive skill.
