FY Rackets Win for Greensted
05 February 2010
Ollie Greensted (No.7) wrapped up the FY Rackets Championship today with ease. The tournament took the form of a “Round Robin” of the eight best players, three of whom are in No.7. Ollie faced the very able Racketeer Ben Cooke (No.5). Ben made an excellent start and took an early lead with some excellent shots. However, when Ollie got the chance his serve got him into the match and he won the first game 15-8. Oliie then ran away with the second game winning 15-1 again thanks to his excellent serve and hardened match experience.
Mr Tim Roberts, Master in Charge of Rackets, was very impressed by the standard of play throughout and felt that several of the points were of a standard equal to any of that played by the recent yearlings pairs.
Ollie and Ben and also Freddie Martin have played as the FY 1st Pair and have enjoyed an excellent year so far having only lost one match. They are very much looking forward to playing at Queens’ Club at the end of the year. With the planned refurbishment of the courts and lots of keen young players, the future certainly looks bright for the Rackets at Malvern College.
