Rugby

Rugby football is a major sport at Malvern in the Autumn term, and this has raised the profile of the sport considerably.  Worcestershire is a major rugby playing county, and the continuing success of the Worcester Warriors Rugby Club, with whom the College now has strong links, provides our school players with inspiration to achieve high standards.

The extensive playing fields at Malvern, with the backdrop of the Malvern Hills, provide a magnificent setting for the game.  Seven rugby sides are fielded in total, three at senior level, with two teams each at Under Under-15 and Under-14 level.

The College has an impressive fixture list, and employs a number of external coaches and referees to support the experienced and dedicated staff coaches.

Worcester Warriors Partnership

Worcester Warriors 2Malvern College launched its partnership with Worcester Warriors Rugby Club at the start of the school year with a pre-season training session for its new intake of FY (Year 9) pupils.  The session involved work on ball handling, decision-making, drills and games, all led by the Warriors Community Development Manager Tom Ryder.  The partnership will bring the Warriors coaching expertise to the College throughout the year.  The College's Sports Scholarship programme also offers talented youngsters a pathway to Premiership rugby with the opportunity of using Worcester Rugby Academy training facilities and the benefit of an individual training programme.
