Herculean Hockey – SH give of their best
19 May 2009

Sunday 3rd of May saw the herculean struggle for the House Hockey
Competition title. It all took place in a single afternoon and at the end all
combatants were left strewn across the turf, after matches under which even
Atlas would have collapsed, such were the gargantuan levels of exertion.
The houses were split into two groups of three teams each, SH being with No.2 and No.7. We lost our first match with No.2 in a close-fought action packed battle and we then went on to triumph 2-1 against No.7. We vanquished them again in the tie-break, moving into the semi-final against No.9. Despite several close calls no goals were scored in this match. So a penalty shoot-out ensued; sadly, in this, we were defeated.
Having fielded ‘A’ team of only seven players, the number required for a
team (and only three of those being sufficiently experienced), SH can feel
that they acquitted themselves against arguably superior opposition.
