SH Summer Term News:

19 May 2009

With public exams looming for many of the students in SH, the glorious summer weather which entices us to come outdoors certainly doesn\'t help revision! Sport has got off to a good start with the cricket teams playing hard. The house has a mass of representatives in both Junior and Senior teams including seven members of the 1st XI. The same can be said for the tennis, with boys playing in the inter-House tennis competition on the first Sunday of term (still the best way to spend a sunny, Sunday afternoon!). Some of the Remove enjoyed a CCF exercise at the end of Week 2 where self-reliance was taught via setting up \'bashas\', eating army rations and conducting surprise attacks on unsuspecting cadets...from a ditch...filled with nettles...in absolute darkness...
The FY visited France last weekend. The FY at Malvern College are personally responsible for 10% of a certain sweet factory\'s annual turnover, and they all had a memorable time visiting the WW1 battlefields and German and British cemeteries. It will be a trip that will be difficult to forget! Meanwhile the house is busy scribbling away contributing to the School House magazine which will be published at the end of this academic year. It will contain sports, arts and drama news as well as articles about life outside School House.
The Upper Sixth enjoyed the Leavers\' Dinner and we all have Commemoration to look forward to next weekend. The next post will come after Half Term when everyone will be in the thick of GCSE, AS, and A2 examinations! The IB pupils will of course be looking on with glee having finished before Half Term.
