Ellerslie House

AngusFamily200200Sarah Angus is Housemistress of Ellerslie House, which combines the very modern - en-suite rooms and underfloor heating - with the very best tradition in girls’ boarding - a supportive and encouraging academic environment.  Central to Sarah’s philosophy is the belief that fulfilling potential depends upon being happy and being offered as many opportunities as possible.  Ellerslie House girls will leave Malvern brimming with academic and emotional intelligence, looking forward to their next challenge with confidence and never forgetting the strong mutual friendships that have been nurtured here.  Sarah’s experience as Head of Sixth Form at her previous school is useful for university advice and she is an Economics graduate, enjoying mountaineering and performing arts.  Sarah’s husband, David, is Assistant to the Director of Studies, a musician and ICT specialist.  Their six year old son, Douglas, enjoys impressing the girls in the House with his martial arts skills. Their dog, Rufus, is always available for long walks, which also gives the cat a chance for some peace!

Fashion Show at Rogers Theatre- 16th January 2010

Ellerslie House girls showed the more creative side of their talents one Saturday night at the Rogers Theatre. Groups of Hundreds and Removes had spent countless weeks in the Tech Block sewing and fitting their hand-made dresses. Vicky Bubmann was the organizer and compere for the night and Angie, Alina and Ore modelled their very unique designs. The show ended with praise and applause as everyone was amazed to see such exquisite outfits created by this talented group of teenagers.

Thanks must be given to Miss Blake, Mrs. Schott and Mr Stokes for giving unfailing support and guidance to the girls throughout the whole event.

Ellerslie Inter-house cake baking

Monday 08. of February 2010

Having had enough of snow recently, I was slightly startled to see the blizzard in my kitchen on Saturday afternoon. Even the kittens were covered in fine white powder! Eventually this was revealed to be icing sugar, an essential ingredient in the fabulous 'topsy-turvey' cake crafted by Amanda Budge and Becky Purnell - the Ellerslie entry for the inter-house baking competition, organised by Tessa Doppstadt. Beautifully decorated, the cake managed to survive the perilous drive to No.4 where it will be judged and then sold to raise money for the Haiti Earthquake Appeal.
