“I want each boy in No.1 to feel secure and significant, each one is unique with individual gifts and talents, and yet each is one part of the whole.”
No.1 Arts Evening
Wednesday 03. of March 2010
On the 28th February House No.1 held an arts evening to celebrate its multifarious talent. There was a mixture of musical performances and new this year, a selection of Art and Drama. Eric Ma performed three times playing the piano, oboe and a violin duet with Moritz Liebelt. Tom Trotter (Trombone), Joe Comery (Singing, Clarinet), Jasper Tautorus (French Horn), Faisal Zainal (Piano), Shane Wang (Trombone) and Philip Whitehead (Piano, Guitar, Singing) also performed. Jonathan Bray presented a very good monologue from his LAMDA examination. All in all it was a wonderful and pleasant evening for No.1 and we are looking forward to some more next year!

First XI Cricket Tour to South Africa
Friday 26. of February 2010

The first team development squad went to South Africa during the Lent half term and I was lucky enough to go. We arrived and instantly I knew we were in a very different country to England.
The highlight of the trip was seeing the Aids orphans who we donated money to. They were all full of life and all wanted to play with our bats. I was shocked because all of them had their own story to tell and had seen and been through so many unreal things but still they were all still very much full of energy very excited to see us.
Another highlight was when we visited the township and actually got a good sight of the conditions some of these people lived in but yet the spirit was high and all the people were friendly and always said hello.
All of this was a real eye opener but the main reason we were there was to play cricket and we won 2 out of the 5 games we played at some truly nice grounds. Of course we couldn’t have done it without Mr Roberts for all the coaching and hard work he has put in, Mr Davidson for all the banter and Mr Newman to keep us in line when we needed to be.
The photo shows the boys from No.1 who took part.
