No.3 Girls put their talents to the test

12 March 2010

This week a large number of No.3 girl put their talents to the test in a number of different ways. The heats of the House Music competition took place and thirteen of the No.3 girls took part, playing a variety of different pieces and instruments. It is wonderful to see so many of the girls involved and willing to gain points for the House. We await to see who has made it in to the finals!

Over the past two weeks the heats of the Lea Smith Reading Competition have been held. We were the winners of this trophy last year and the girls are determined to give it their best effort in order to try to retain the title.
Snoz, Emily L and Sophia all read for the Hundred, amongst stiff competition. The readers for the Sixth form were Laura R, Anna, Iona, Bryce and Joyce. And finally three FY were keen to volunteer, Milly, Natalie S and Lydia. This was a close competition and in fact Natalie and Milly are in a \'read off’ for a place in the final!

On Wednesday a small group went into town to see \'Blood Bothers\' at the Malvern Theatre. It was a fabulous show - we laughed so much in the first half but were reduced to tears throughout the second half. It was a magnificent and the girls were really excellent company.

This weekend four brave young ladies are joining others in the school for a weekend of fund raising. Belle and Kate are competing in the help for Heroes\' charity trek and canoe. The group that they are joining will be trekking for 24 miles and then canoeing for 24 miles. This is an incredible feat since both girls are only in Remove. We wish them the best of luck! Also this weekend, Annie and Doro are spending two nights in the Sports Hall. They are taking part in the \'Ghanathon\' and will be rowing the distance of the Ghanaian border on the rowing machines. They will also be camping out on the common and we wish them well too. Fingers crossed for fair weather this weekend for both groups!
