No.5 (Boys)  - Malvern College

House No. 5

no5fampic3Tom and Jennie Newman together with their 3 young children, Toby, Freya and George, moved into No.5 in 2007.  With a 'work hard, play hard' ethos, Tom encourages the boys to pull together as a team and to encourage each other.  It is very much Tom's philosophy to make every boy feel valued and confident in his own ability.  Tom is a very keen sportsman who believes that the wealth of extra curricular activities on offer at the College will help to create a contented, busy and well balanced individual.  He and Jennie put great emphasis on the house being a secure and happy place for the boys to grow up and to enjoy themselves; indeed many social events are organized

for all the year groups.  Tom likes to keep in regular contact with the boys' parents which he feels is essential to offering a high level of care for each boy.

With Simon Harwood and Alex Magee dominating proceedings using their unrivaled height, we won 12-8 against a fast and furious SH team. From the team talk at the start to the bitten nails towards the end, it was a fantastic game which booked No.5 a place in the semi finals...

Wok Night in No.5

Friday 29. of January 2010

Wok'n'Roll

No.5 Sixth formers, together with Tom and Jennie Newman and the House tutors had a wonderful Lent term dinner recently. This year's theme was a Wok Night and the boys loved the fine cuisine! The meal was a great success and the atmosphere in the house was superb. Simon Harwood, Head of House, spoke briefly and toasted No.5 at the end of what a very entertaining evening.
