What do chopsticks, pegs and stawberry bootlaces all have in common?

20 May 2009

The intriguing headline to this event can be easily explained. They were all parts of the birthday games that fifty girls and staff played last night for our birthday supper. The steady rain outside meant that we had to hold our traditional birthday barbecue inside but the rain did nothing to dampen the party atmosphere. One of the most popular games was how many smarties could be eaten using chopsticks in 30 seconds. The record was held for a long time by Kirstie Wombwell but Dr Stafford broke her record by just one crucial smartie and took the prize. Hannah Jefferson and Mr Major won the prize for holding the most number of pegs in one hand and Saskia Hefes was the best at guessing the flavours of all the crisps. Mrs Jackson was the most inventive when it came to the game where everyone had to describe their friends as a sweet and impressed us all with her acting in the charades. The photograph shows everyone tucking into the birthday meal and thanks must go to our chef Jean for doing such a tremendous spread. Needless to say, there was very little left of the house\'s favourite pudding bannoffi pie at the end of the evening.
